Give to others, Love yourself, Own your potential - GLO!
Recently I had a fun brunch with my childhood pals Cathy and Jill.
Cathy's daughter is a rising senior at West Point, and mom shared her excitement that her youngest had hung in there, through tough training, and was moving closer to finishing. After she graduates Kelsie will spend five years active duty in the service.
Cathy and her husband Dale could not be more proud. Sure, she confided, there's some fear. "But it's the right fit for her," Cathy shared, noting how her heart swells at the thought of her youngest serving our nation. She also praised how much growth her has daughter has seen by stepping out of her comfort zone to try something challenging — and inspiring.
A lot of you are planning summer vacations, going off on trips to the beach, the mountains, the lake house or around the world. How expansive travel is to our minds and hearts, with the chance to fly off to another country the most exciting experience imaginable.
I remember my first visit to Italy. And since then, Tuscany, to me, remains the most beautiful place in the world. The food, the art, the culture. It's all so so bellissima.
It's Mother's Day and we could not let this occasion pass without sharing with you all a few words of wisdom from our mothers, whose love and strength we carry with us every day. Here's a top 10 list from your Be Brilliant founders Andrea and Marsa. We hope you'll be inspired. And we wish all of you moms out there the very best on this day.
Thank you for all that you do!
1. Tread through life lightly -- after all, laughter is the best medicine.
1.What is your idea of perfect happiness?
My heart and mind at peace — free from worry, quiet, appreciative, filled with love. Also, pink beach house full of happy dogs, good wine, gorgeous music and good friends.
2.What is your greatest fear?
Growing old alone. Being brunette.
3.What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Worry. I have a Ph.D in it.
2. Decide upfront: There are no problems you can't solve. Work through it. Have no doubts that everything is fixable. You are never defeated. #thesunwillcomeuptomorrow
3. Laugh at yourself. Daily. Hourly. It's not a dress rehearsal down here. Enjoy the now.
4. Be genuine. Share your story. Your triumphs and your struggle. There is great wisdom in the journey. Help others find their path. #giveback
I love Easter. It's a season of rebirth and taking stock of what matters. And also of reflecting on your blessings and hopefully, ways you might be more of one to others.
One of my esteemed Facebook friends posted recently her disgust with the inauthentic people she encountered in her work life. She lamented that more and more, she ran across those who didn't care how they told their story, how they interacted or kept their word, as long as it benefitted them and their ascendance.
